Recommended 4 and 7-Way Trailer Connector and Brake Controller for 2021 Toyota Tacoma

Question:

I have a 2021 Tacoma without tow package. Need to equip to pull a small camper. I have the hitch but need the wiring. It looks like I need to install a 4 way, then a 7 way adapter, and then finally a brake controller. Could you please verify the products I’ll need? Thank you.

I have the perfect option for installing both a 4 and 7-way trailer connector on a 2021 Toyota Tacoma and it's with the Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness part # 22117. This is the only completely plug-in kit that provides a 7-way connector. That said, in order to have both 4 and 7-way's you'd need to swap out the connector that comes with for the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket part # HM40975.

The Tekonsha OEM Replacement Vehicle Wiring Harness will also allow you to easily install a trailer brake controller without any splicing into the vehicle. I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller part # RED52VR which will make for a clean install when paired with the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro part # 331-TPSI-002.
