14 inch Hitch Extender That Can be Used with Bike Rack for 2022 Land Rover Defender

Question:

Hi, I have a 2022 Defender 110 and trying to find a way for hitch mounted bike rake to clear the back tire. It looks like a 14 hitch extension will work, but is this safe? I read the tongue weight of the Defender is certified for 350lbs but 700lbs by design. I have also read that an extension halves the tongue weight. In this case does it half the certified or design tongue weight? Thanks,

Using a hitch extender does cut the tongue weight capacity of the vehicle it is installed in by 50 percent. Since yours is rated for 350 lbs you'd be limited to 175 lb but we do have a 14 inch hitch extender with the Gen-Y part # GY89SR which would work well for you as long as the weight capacity factor worked out.
