A trailer VIN will typically be located somewhere on or near the trailer tongue. If you cannot find one there, check for plaques on other parts of the trailer such as the frame. It may also be located on other decals as well. It really just comes down to searching your trailer specifically as they can be located in many different spots. That said, it's possible the trailer was never assigned a VIN or it has been misspaced and in which case you'd need to reach out to your local state highway patrol office so one can be assigned to your trailer.
If the trailer manufacturer is still in business you may be able to reach out to them for further assistance such as common places to look using the make/model or possibly cross-referencing serial numbers.
