Question:

Im purchasing a 2022 Keystone Cougar with the Max Turn / Road Armor Technology. Im having a problem finding the right fifth wheel hitch for my truck. I was sold on the Andersen 3200, but now Im finding out that hitch wont work. Then I considered the Demco Recon, but it appears they recommend a rotating pin box....so Im totally confused. Ive called the local dealers and they are reluctant to make a recommendation...Im guessing because of liability. I have a limited budget. Any suggestions?

The Max Turn technology is just a more rounded trailer nose to allow for a bit more turning clearance. With a 5-1/2' bed I would typically recommend replacing the pin box on the trailer with a rotating pin box to get enough clearance, but fortunately the Demco Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # DM8550040 can be installed in your truck bed to give you an additional 22-1/2" of turning clearance.

This hitch automatically slides back as you turn so you won't have to get out of your truck to swap back and forth from towing and maneuvering modes. You'll need the Demco Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Hitches # DM8552027-71 to install this in your 2018 Chevy Silverado 1500.

If you have a MagnaRide Suspension then this hitch would not be compatible and you'd be looking at having to replace the pin box with a rotating one. If this is the case then let me know what serial numbers are on your current pin box so I can determine the bolt pattern.
