Red Funnel on Andersen Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Hitch Broke Off
Updated 04/25/2025 | Published 06/12/2019 >
Question:
The red funnel of our Anderson hitch component on our fifth wheel snapped off. The rest of the connection appears normal . Is this a safety issue for towing? Should we get the red funnel part replaced???

I reached out to my contact at Andersen and he did say that the red funnel piece on your Ultimate Connection 5th Wheel Hitch # AM3200 is strictly for guidance purpose to ease the hookup process. It has no effect whatsoever as to the actual connection once the hitch ball is in place so you can absolutely still tow without issue even with that funnel broken off. There is no safety concern if you choose to do this without replacing the funnel.
With all of that in mind, this type of damage would be covered under the hitch's warranty so if you wish to have it replaced you can contact the manufacturer and they will be happy to send you out a new one.
