Will Thule Apex TH9024XT Clear Spare Tire of 2014 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

Hi, I just wanted to confirm that the model 9028XT 2 bike hitch mount rack will work on a 2014 Jeep Wrangler. The hitch is 2inch so I know that is okay. Just wondered if the rack will stick out far enough to clear the spare tire on the rear door? Thanks

To determine if the Thule Apex # TH9024XT will clear the spare tire on your Wrangler, you will need to take a measurement from your hitch pin hole rearward until your spare tire is cleared (see photo).

In order for the rack to fit on your Wrangler, the distance from the pin hole to the farthest rearward edge of the spare will need to be less than 7 inches.

If your hitch is the Draw-Tite or Hidden Hitch Class III, the bike rack should fit fine, as you can see in the test fit video I have linked you to.

I have also linked you to an FAQ article that shows how to measure for the necessary clearance. The Article also shows other bike racks and the amount of clearance they offer, in case the Thule Vertex will not have enough clearance with your hitch.
