Parts Needed For Installing a 7-Way and Trailer Brake Controller On a 2019 Ford Transit Connect

Question:

Hello, I own a 2019 Ford Transit Connect Wagon without the factory tow package, and I used your T-One 4-pole harness Item # 118613 to get up and running. I am now faced with potentially needing a 7-way and brake controller. The T-One install required running a power wire under the vehicle and connect with a fuse direct to the battery, due to insufficient power at the rear lights. However, your ETBC7 Universal 7-way kit also requires running a power wire with fuse to the battery. My question is whether I need to run this additional wire and fuse or if I can tap power off the other power wire from the original 4-way install? Thanks for your assistance!

You will need to run the additional wiring which comes with the Universal Installation Kit # ETBC7. The wire included for powering the charge line also runs with the wiring you will need for the output on the brake controller. The power wire on the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118613 is also not large enough to safely carry the power needed for both the converter and the charge line.

For a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED52VR. This brake controller includes the universal wiring harness you will need to install the controller. The control knob is small and will not take up a lot of room on your dash. Because of this you can place it where it is easily seen and accessed for you.
