Question:
I am currently purchasing an enclosed cargo trailer for work. I will be installing a work compressor that has a DC electric starter. My question is, how do I power it. Can a wire thru the pins thru the truck or should I install a car battery and connect it to the battery. If the battery is needed, what equipment do I need to keep it charged while connected to the truck. Its not necessary, but I am also considering running a few electronics in the trailer such as small fans. First and foremost, I need to operate the compressor. Secondly, what is needed to pull power from the battery for other DC devices or even a small AC device.

For how much current your compressor would require to run and fact you want to run a few other accessories in the trailer a battery installed in your trailer will be your best option to power everything. For that we have deep cycle batteries like the Bright Way part # BRW34FR. To charge this when towing with your tow vehicle you'd want a BCDC charger like the # RED96FR to take the 12 volt output circuit of your trailer 7-way and use it to charge the battery.
Then to go from DC to AC you'd need a small inverter like the Go Power part # 34280175 which is rated for 800 watts.
