The Hopkins 7-Way Blade to 7-Way Round Adapter, # 47595, was designed to be rewired. This adapter was designed to be rewired because there is no industry standard when it comes to wiring a 7-way round style trailer connector.
If your tail lights come on when the vehicle is put in reverse, then, at the back of the 7-way round end, switch the yellow wire with the green wire (see video). If that is the only issue you have come across, then that should fix your problem. If you are having other issues such as electric brakes, turn signals or brake lights, then what I will do in situations like this is to see how the connector on the trailer is pinned and pin the adapter to match the trailer. I do not recommend matching the pins color for color, but by function. There is a good chance that the colors of your trailer wires do not match the wire colors for the Hopkins adapter.
The color code for the Hopkins adapter is below
Black - 12 volt power
Blue - Electric Brakes
White - Ground
Red - Left Turn/Brake Lights
Brown - Right Turn/Brake Lights
Green - Tail Lights
Yellow - Reverse Lights
