Should ST225/75R15 Load Range E be Inflated to 80 PSI
Published 11/01/2022 >
Question:
My trailer uses ST225/75 R15. I didnt pay attention to the specifications on my trailer until after I purchased my tires. The trailer manufacturer specifications called for a load range D at 65psi. I purchased load range E tires that have a max 80psi. If I run these tires at 65psi I assume everything will be OK. Correct?

Expert Reply:
With trailer tires you have to run the max psi listed on the sidewall of the tire. The number listed on the trailer would be for if you were to use the same tires the trailer came with. So what you would need to do now that you have E rated 225/75-15 like the part # LHWL304 tires is run the max 80 psi. You'll want to inflate the tires when cold. If you underinflate them you'll run risk premature tire failure and reduced capacity.
