Will the Dutton Lainson Worm Gear Winch # DL11001 Lift a Dock Out of the Water

Question:

Looking for a winch that will lift a 1500lb plus?? out of the water for the season. Dock is 20 feet long made out of aluminum does have pressure treated posts will this work? Looking for my husband for Christmas looking for a answer asap Thanks

The Dutton Lainson Worm Gear Hand Winch, # DL11001, can lift up to 2,000 lbs, so it should have no problem lifting your dock out of the water, assuming the dock does not weigh more than 2,000 lbs. This winch also comes with a hex head drive that will allow your husband to use a variable speed drill to lift the dock rather than cranking the winch by hand. Winches are not designed to keep a load suspended for extended periods of time. If the dock is going to be suspended during the winter, I recommend having a secondary suspension system in place, like chains or steel cables attached to fixed points, to keep the dock suspended.
