The minumum 16inch is to long for my aaplication. Can the screw thread hook be removed for cut down and reed to allow for a shorter overall length? Thank you

Yes, the threaded rod of the Replacement Front Turnbuckle # LC182901 can be removed and trimmed down. But depending on our exact length needed this may not help you since the main body of the unit is nearly 12" long you may not be able to get it short enough for your application. A better option is likely the Brophy Basic Turnbuckles # TDHP. These turnbuckles are expandable from 7-5/8" to 12". The kit also includes short chains that will allow for up to 19-3/4" of length.
