Question:

I have a 1997 Toyota Hiace Ambulance and looking for a hitch to install. It is an imported RHD vehicle. Any way to know if a universal hitch install will work? Thanks in advance.

There may be an option for a hitch for your older ambulance, and you are correct you will need a universal hitch that is welded on. There are three options from Curt that will work with frames that measure up to 44 inches wide (from outside to outside), with the only difference being the amount of drop they give you from the bottom of your frame:

- 3" Drop: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch # 15901

- 9" Drop: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch # C47CR

- 18" Drop: Curt Class 5 Universal Weld-on Hitch # C99CR

So to get the correct hitch, you'll just want to measure the width of your frame and how far below your frame the receiver needs to be.
