Can 205/75-15 Trailer Tire be Used as Temporary Spare For 235/75-15 Tires

Updated 10/04/2022 | Published 10/02/2022

Question:

Is it ok to use a smaller tire as a spare on a trailer? Right now I have 235/75-15s and the spare takes up a lot of room and weight. Would a 205/75-15 be ok for a temporary spare? Thank you.

So long as it is very temporary - as in, going right from using the spare to getting a 235/75-15 tire put on - you can use a temporary 205/75-15 spare like the Karrier ST205/75R15 Radial Trailer Tire with 15" White Spoke Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM32395.

A 205/75-15 tire is a bit under 2" in diameter smaller than a 235/75-15, so using it for an extended period of time could throw your suspension out of whack.
