Question:

I have what is I believe technically a 2500 lb axle. It is 2inch outside diameter. I am trying to find a u bolt kit for it but it seems everywhere considers 2000# axles to be 1 3/4inch outside diameter. Are the u bolt kits the same for both sizes?

The U-bolts on a kit like # CE23000 would not fit on a true 2" diameter axle. The inner width is 1-7/8" which would be just enough to fit on a 1-3/4" diameter axle. I recommend measuring your axle again, or measuring the inner width of your old U-bolts.

Your typical 2" axle would be a square axle, and more than likely you actually have a 1-3/4" axle. Your round axle is going to have a 1-3/4" or 2-3/8" diameter. If you find that it is actually 2-3/8" you would need the # CE23002 instead.
