Question:

will this work with the hobie lynx which is 36 inch width and lay flat i understand it handles up to 100lbs and lynx is 45lbs but the width is what i am concerned with before purchasing

The Swagman Exo Aero Rooftop Kayak Carrier System with Tie-Downs # S65145 does not have a max width kayak that it can fit. As long as you have a standard style kayak where the bottom of it matches the contour of the rack and the 10' straps can reach around the kayak, then it would be fine.

That being said, from the information I found on the Hobie Lynx. It looks to be a flat bottom kayak that would not match the contour of the Swagman Exo Aero Rooftop Kayak Carrier System with Tie-Downs # S65145.

I recommend going with a carrier that can handle kayaks and SUP's, like the Rhino-Rack Nautic Roof SUP or Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs # RR570. SUP's are flat, so a carrier that can handle both kayaks and SUP's is going to be better suited to carry your Hobie Lynx kayak.
