Shouldn't The Gas Regulator Be Closer To the Propane Tank Versus On The Grill Itself?

Question:
This hose would have the regulator on the grill itself 12ft away from the propane tank. Shouldn’t there be a regulator much closer to the tank?

The MB Sturgis Propane Adapter Hose # 100700-144 does not require a regulator directly at the tank as there is only gas coming out of the tank with its valve. The only down fall to having the regulator on the grill versus the propane tank is you will lose a bit more propane when disconnecting the hose since it will have the higher pressure propane versus the regulated propane.
