Can this hinge be shortened? And would this be suitable to be used for a ramp door extension or would there be a better product?

Yes, the 6' Long, 4" Wide Continuous Hinge # MA85VR can be cut down to the length needed. It is a 270 degree hinge that will allow you to use it as an extension on your ramp door.
