Solar Controller Upgrade For GP-PWM-10-SQ For Two 190 Watt Solar Panels

Updated 08/23/2022 | Published 08/21/2022

Question:

My RV was installed with a GP-PWM-10-SQ controller prewired no solar panel, I installed a 190 watt roof solar panel. I have two 100 amp AGM batteries that are new. The system seemed to charge ok before I installed a 12 volt refrigerator. Now system struggles to keep batteries charged, I was thinking of upgrading to a 30 amp controller and another 190 watt panel. Or will my 10 amp work with two 190 watt panels?

Expert Reply:

The GP-PWM-10-SQ is only capable of 190 watts so you wouldn't be able to add another solar panel to get more power, but we do have an option for you. What I recommend is upgrading to a 30 amp solar controller instead:

- Go Power MPPT Solar Charge Controller - 30 Amp - 12V and 24V # GP72RR

The # GP72RR has a max power input of 600 watts so it's more than triple what your current controller has, and will allow you to add another 190 watt panel, the Go Power Overlander # 34282182.
