Optronics MCL10ACKB Uni-Lite Marker Clearance Light Diagram

Sonically Sealed, Waterproof Trailer Light

The waterproof construction of this light makes it ideal for use on trailers that may be submerged, like a boat trailer. The housing and lens are sonically sealed together to create a single unit, which means that water will not get into the light and damage the diodes or circuit board.

PC-Rated Lights

Diagram of light spread for PC rated light

A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.

Recessed-Mount Light

Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Video Transcript for Optronics GloLight Uni-Lite LED Clearance and Side Marker Light Review and Installation

Hey everybody, Ryan here at etrailer. Today we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the Optronics trailer Light led clearance or side marker light. So right away, the first thing I noticed about this light is how bright it's going to be. It's actually really impressive for how big the light itself is. As you can see, even in a well lit room like we're in today, it's going to have no issues to really throw in that light off far for other motors to see. So really kind of puts your mind at ease, knowing that you're lit up.

Now, it kind of separates this one from some of the other types of lights is that this is the trailer Light. So as you can see, that the light is really dispersed evenly throughout the lens. It gives us a nice, solid light, as opposed to some of the other ones where you can kind of see through the lens itself and just see that one led. With this one it gives us a cleaner and more bright appearance. So what I like too, is the size of the light. It's pretty small.

So it's going to give us a lot of different options on where, how you want to mount it up. Works perfect for trailers like you have today. But also a lot of people are starting to put these types of lights on their mud trucks, their off-road vehicles, like side-by-sides for example, golf cards, things of that nature. So even if you want to mount these up on a different type of project, you're going to be able to find a spot to put them.So once we have the light turned off, we're going to have a solid orange lens, which the upside of this is even when the lights are off, you can still see this pretty well in the daylight. Now they do make clear lenses as well, and really no huge difference.

It's going to be kind of your personal preference as far as what you think looks a little bit better, but at the end of the day, a really reliable led light that's going to last a long time and a lot of other people see us.As far as the installation goes, it's really easy. There's only two wires to hook up. So it shouldn't take you hardly any time at all. So once you get the light in your hands right away, you can tell that it's going to be well-built. The housing is really thick and solid plastic.

So we shouldn't have to worry about getting brittle and breaking over time. Flip it around to the back inside there's going to be some sealer. So this is going to be submersible. So I do recommend though, if you do plan on putting this completely under water, not a bad idea to turn the power off to the light, just to be on the safe side. We're going to have quite a bit of wire to work with here, about seven and a half inches. So we shouldn't have any issues getting it hooked up. And we're also going to have a sheaving that covers pretty much the whole length of the wires. So little bit of extra protection there, as far as that goes. It does come included with the rubber grommet. So that's nice and I am not saying you have to not worry about picking up separately or you don't have to deal with reusing the old beat up one, so nice little extra you get there. To begin our install, we're going to be here at the corner of our trailer. And the first thing we're going to need to do is install our rubber grommet. So pretty straight forward here, we'll just take the grommet and work it into that opening there. From there, we can grab our light. We're going to run the wires through, push it down into that grommet to get it seated like so, and then we can hook up the wires coming from our light to our existing trailer wiring. So what I'm going to use to do that is these heat shrink butt connectors. These don't come included, but you can find them here at etrailer. Slide the butt connector onto the end of the wire. Cut it down. Going to do that for both of them. So the white wire coming from our trailer light is going to be the ground wire. So I'm going to hook that up to our existing trailer ground and the black wire coming from our trailer light. That's going to get hooked up to power. So here's our existing power wire, slide that in. Perfect down and since these are heat shrinks and I'm going to do is take my heat gun and shrink down the ends.So now it's a good idea to test our light, to make sure it works properly. So we'll put power to it as you can see it illuminates up. So this is what it looks like now that I secured our wiring and I just used a zip tie to get that done. And if you need some of those, you can pick them up right here at etrailer and that'll finish up our look at and our installation of the Optronics trailer Light led clearance and side marker light..

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

I have finally finished the install of the great products that I’ve purchased from Etrailer. Curt 24K 5th wheel hitch, the lube discs, the front receiver hitch tube, the Factory 7-way connector and 7 -way extension (I have 3 7-way plugs on my truck) and the countless number of LED lights. The service is amazing and the customer service I received was fabulous. I really like these folks as they were vary knowledgeable about what I was after and pointed me in the right direction to accomplish my end goal. Thanks to everyone at Etrailer. I couldn’t have done it all without you.

Comments
Everything I’ve done to my truck with multiple products from Etrailer has just been perfect. All working and performing as expected. Couldn’t have ask for more reliable products than those I’ve installed.

Great little running light puck! Easy to install and very bright at night and is even very visible in daylight. Only about an inch in diameter on the outside, you wouldn't think it was much larger from the amount of light they provide.

Comments
Awesome, bright lights. They really blend in well in daylight but stand out at night.

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

I bought a couple more of these two-diode LED clearance lights to add some more lighting to the rear of my kayak trailer. They work nice and are easy to install in 3/4" holes that I drilled through a piece of aluminum angle. The trailer has orange clearance lights on the front sides, red clearance lights on the back sides, the stop/turn/parking lights on the back, three red clearance lights on the back, and a white LED license plate light. It's really lit up and very visible at night from the rear and sides. Thanks to etrailer.com for great products and services! My wife and I like to kayak, but we don't like to deal with putting our kayaks on roof racks on the top of a car. So I bought a used Load-Rite trailer that was designed to hold one Jet Ski, and added a frame made of slotted angle and 2x6 lumber to hold the kayaks, and a cargo box from Tractor Supply to hold kayak seats, life jackets, towels, sun-protection clothing, and some spare gear (ropes etc), and bought all new LED lighting from etrailer.com. The paddles are too long for the cargo box so they have to go in the car! The kayaks are tied down to the trailer with several ropes front and rear, so there is a lot of safety factor in the design....I don't worry about the kayaks coming off the trailer! The entire rig works great....when we return from a kayak trip we just back the trailer in the barn and it's ready to go for our next trip. I put a 5" diameter wheel on the trailer just behind the hitch so I can push it around on flat level surfaces. See the pictures.

Comments
Those lights, and all the lighting and trailer wiring products that I bought from etrailer.com, are working great! I used to have constant problems with the lights on my trailer until I switched everything out to the LED lights from etrailer.com! Now they work every time we use the trailer knock on wood!.

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

Great item at a great price. Purchased 4 clear with red (2-diodes) to place in my rear step bumper in place of back up sensors for my older truck used as clearance/running lamps. Fitment was up to me being had to locate rubber grommets to adapt to these smaller 3/4" lights to the 1 1/8" bumper holes. I would give these 5 stars but for some reason the black wire is the HOT, while any automotive electrical item I be ever worked on the BLACK was the ground! Opposite here and recommend testing them before you hook up like I did then had to reverse wires.. Silly mistake on my part but why is the black (+) and white (-) ??? Otherwise they're bright and add to my otherwise dark OEM tail lights for increased safety. Pic shown is during daylight!

Great addition to the basic, rear brake lights of a camp trailer. I added these LED RED to the brake/turn function, within the existing, small holes in the rear bumper--much more apparent when stopping/turning. These sealed LED lights are very common on larger trucks and trailers now. Easy to install and very robust assembly...priced right!

Comments
Always great, tested products from ETrailer. These LED lights did not disappoint...still shining brightly. Thanks!

These were designed as a clearance light application and at a great price. I bought them to use as turn signal lamps on my RZR. They are high quality and extremely bright when lit, so they work great for both applications. These guys have great parts at a great price and quick shipping. I would recommend them to anyone needing trailer/boat/lighting. Thanks guys.

Comments
John, Are these lights clearly visible during the day time? I bought some that look similar but are not bright enough to be seen. Im also using them for turn signals on my RZR.

Lowell C. These lights are bright enough to be seen during daylight. I use them when I am with a group to signal our next direction or 4 way as intent to slow. Everyone behind me have been able to see them even in high dust situation.

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

Very well built, sturdy and totally sealed against moisture. I installed these into the top of my Haulmark enclosed trailer to act as clearance lights. Installation was a breeze, I just drilled a 3/4" hole with a step bit, wired all five lights together and tied it into the running lights of the trailer's harness. I put the ground against the steel frame. I went a step further and put a bead of clear marine grade silicone around the light to ensure no moisture makes it inside the trailer despite these being a tight fit. As you can see from the pictures, installation is clean and they're very bright, both day and night! I put one on either end, 6" from the sides and the three middles ones are spaced 10" apart. Similar to the clearance lights on a truck, I didn't use a template, just winged it.

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

Shipping was slow, but I can't complain much considering it was free! I chopped the fenders on my 2008 Jeep Wrangler, which involved removing the side marker lights. I installed a pair of these DOT approved lights to meet inspection requirements. As for the lights, they are well-constructed and very bright. Installation was difficult; even after drilling and deburring a 11/16" hole, the grommet barely fit in. I had to put a small amount of grease on the light's lateral surfaces before the light would slide into the grommets. Overall, I am very pleased with the product. Poison Spyder sells an inferior product at several times the price; I am glad I found these here!

Review from a similar Uni-Lite in Trailer Lights

I ordered these light to be used as accent light on a new lift table for my company. I needed low profile and fairly bright red light to be reflected off our off-white power coat. These little lights out preformed what we were hoping for. The only thing I don't like about them is the instructions say to drill a 11.16" hole. Assembly was WAY too tight at that dimension. So we stepped it up a fraction at a time and found that 17/64" (.73) and 3/4" (.75) were perfect. Even at 3/4" the grommet was snug and water tight. The light had to be squeezed into place but at 11/16" I felt like I was about to brake the light. Overall I am super pleased with the lights. We added them to the Bill of Materials and we will be ordering them for these new carts.

Nice bright lights. I used for corner and fender marker lights on my car trailer. The grommet that comes with these is really stiff and is install once, then impossible to remove without damaging it. I welded short lengths of 1/2" pipe on my trailer where I installed these, ground a little plastic ridge off the OD of the lights and slid them into the pipe just leaving the tip of the light exposed.

Love these l.e.d. lights. Had seen exact same lights on a new truck at work and wanted them for my personal truck. Found them here on etrailer at a great price. They are really bright for such a small light and low current draw. Simple, fast install.
