Should the edges of CE smith post-style guide-ons for boat trailers be painted?

Question:

RE: part # CE27620. e-trailer suggests painting the zinc plated guide-on struts and I was wondering what product you recommend to match the grey color of my galvanized trailer. Should I use a rust resistant primer first?

The edges of the CE Smith Post-Style Guide-Ons for Boat Trailers # CE27620 should in fact be painted for superior protection. You can simply use a spray paint from a local hardware / paint store, or for the best protection you can start off with rust-preventive primer as you mentioned, then follow it up with a good coat of paint.
