The required thickness of the metal on your 2" x 3" trailer tongue is between .188" and .120" in order to use the fold-away coupler, which is the following part number:
- Fulton Fold-Away Coupler Hinge Kit for 2" x 3" Trailer Tongue # FHDPB230101
This is true for any capacity up to the 5,000 lbs the # FHDPB230101 is rated for, so a 3,500 lb single axle trailer will require its tongue have the same .188" to .120" thickness.
