Question:
I’m looking for a recommendation on a weight distribution hitch with sway control for my camper. It’s a Rockwood HW296 popup with a manufacturer UVW 3721lbs. I’m looking at the Reese Pro Round Bar Item # RE34FR and wondering if this hitch will suit my needs. Thanks for any help.

I recommend using the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-0800 for your Forest River Rockwood HW296 pop up camper. This hitch is rated for a tongue weight of 400-800lbs and maximum trailer weight up to 8,000lbs. It uses trunnion style weight distribution bars that do not affect ground clearance like the round bar with the Reese # RE34FR. Your Rockwood camper will have a dry tongue weight of 371lbs from the factory. By the time you add the 40lbs for the propane and 50lbs for a battery you will be in the correct weight range for the Fastway hitch. And since the main storage area for the 1,278lbs of cargo you can carry is in the front you will need the additional tongue weight capacity of the Fastway over the maximum 600lbs of tongue weight for the Reese.
You will need a 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # EQ91-00-6100 and a 1-7/8" 12pt Thin Walled Socket # ALL643216 to install the ball on the Fastway hitch.
