Question:
I need to purchase a brake contoller. I am looking at tekonsha prodigy P3 or P2. I have a 1988 ford van and plan to install it in this vehicle. But, I do not see much difference between the two contollers. What is the difference? thank you, Curt

I would be happy to help you and compare the both the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 item # 90885 and P3 item # 90195 brake controllers. The P3 has the upgraded axis accelerometer like the P2. The Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195, will work with both electric over hydraulic brakes on the trailer as well as electric brakes. It has a menu option on the display that allows the user to switch between the two systems.
The P2, item # 90885, will also work with both electric brakes and electric over hydraulic brake systems but the mode is selected differently since it doesn't have the same kind of display as the P3. The P2 is more of an entry level brake controller; easy to use, easy to mount, and it works well.
I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 item # 90195 for your 1988 Ford Van. The extra functions and easier to navigate system make the small price difference worth it. There are no plug in adapters for your Van.
