Question:

When our truck camper is on our truck there is a gap of about 6.5” between the truck camper and the edge of the truck. Will the scissors steps be able to attach to our truck camper?

I've attached some dimensions below to help you determine fitment of the Brophy Camper Scissor Steps # AS24 with your truck bed camper. The mounting bracket is 24" long x 1" tall (1-3/8" tall if you include the V-Clamps) so you'll need to ensure that there's enough room for the bracket to mount and that your entry height from that mounting point is 31" - 39".

If you're stating that your camper sits 6.5" back from the edge of the truck with the tailgate sticking out further then you'll probably run into some issues and need to install the steps on the tailgate instead using the Brophy Tailgate Scissor Step Mounting Bracket # TSSB.
