Switching from 30 Amp RV Power Panel to 50 in Featherlite
Published 07/19/2022 >
Question:
Hi! We have a Featherlite 5th wheel car hauler that was customized to add a forward living space. It has no LP. I has an electric water heater, one roof AC, microwave, and TV plus several 110v wall outlets. They put in a 30 amp panel. It’s a Parallax 7300 series with a 30amp Max Main breaker. I brought it back to Featherlite after two years , as it would flip the breaker on the outdoor power post where our 30 amp cord plugged in, if we had too much running at once. They installed a 50 amp cord, and I expected them to upgrade the converter to 50 amp., but they didn’t change out the panel. Now the 30 amp main breaker will flip if too much is on. We want to go to an actual 50 amp system. We may add a second roof AC unit as well. Looking forward to hearing from you!

The Progressive Dynamics RV Power Control Center with AC/DC Panel and Converter/Smart Charger # PD4560K18LS8 is a 60 amp panel which would work great to provide your RV with twice as much power like you are needing. There isn't a 50 amp panel available but going to a 60 amp would just mean more power available.
As far as AC units go for RVs the Furrion Chill units like the part # FR52PR blow really cold air and are very quiet as well.
