It sounds like you may have the older system based on the description of your remote. The # LC723915 is a wireless remote with replaceable batteries. The older remote is sealed and instead of batteries you have to charge it with the included cable.
You can tell which one you have based on the buttons. The old remote has 10 buttons and the new remote has 12 buttons. You can also tell if you have the older system by looking at your circuit board which has 2 models. One has a wiring diagram on the cover, the other one has a smiley face and says HappiJac Wireless. Both of these indicate you have the old system.
If your old remote is failing and you wish to replace it you will also have to replace the circuit board with the newer model # LC733513. They also come together # LC733540. The # LC149557 will be needed to sync them. This is the only option since the old remote is no longer available according to Lippert. The new remote and board will be compatible with your motor heads.
It doesn't sound like a battery issue since the right side still works. It could be the remote is bad, the circuit board is bad, or a wiring issue. I would double check the wiring connections and make sure nothing is damaged before deciding to replace parts. It could also be the motor heads but it is unlikely that two failed at the same time.
