Question:
I want a radial tire to replace the 4.80/12 bias ply tires that came on my harbor freight utility trailer. I understand that your Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST14/R12 Item # AM10140 will work. I am wondering if the Kenda Karrier, since it is an inch taller and wider, can be mounted on my existing wheels that have the Carlile Radial Trail LH, 4.80/12 wheels mounted currently. Other than that it appears that the trailer allows for an inch wider and taller tire. Thanks so much for your help!

Helpful Expert Reply:
I recommend using the Taskmaster 4.80R12 Radial Trailer Tire # TT48012C that is the same size as your current bias ply tires on your Harbor Freight trailer. This will reduce the chances of fitment issues with the larger Kenda Karrier S-Trail ST145/R12 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10140. This tire is going to be roughly 1" wider and 3/4" so you will need to measure your trailer to determine if you will still have sufficient clearance with the larger tires. You need to have 1" of clearance for your sidewalls and I recommend 3" of clearance vertically as the suspension compresses. Both tires are recommended for 12"x4" Wheels # AM20122 like you have.
