Will CE Smith Spare Tire Carrier for Trailers # CE22007Z-11050-2 Fit 1-1/2-Inch Trailer Frame

Question:

Will this hanger work on frame that is only 1 1/2inches? Do you a hanger designed for smaller frames?

We do not offer trailer-mount spare tire carriers with a narrower u-bolt than the CE Smith Spare Tire Carrier for Trailers, part # CE22007Z-11050-2, which has a u-bolt that is 3-1/16-inch wide. However, this part will still work on your 1-1/2-inch trailer frame. Since the tire and carrier both will be tightened down to your trailer frame with the two supplied lug nuts the trailer frame being smaller than the u-bolt will not matter.

You will just want to position the u-bolt so that the trailer frame member it is mounted to rests in one of the two corners inside the u-bolt. By attaching the u-bolt in this manner the frame member will be held snugly inside the 90-degree corner. I have attached a photo to help show what I mean.

Please note that this tire holder will fit both 4-lug and 5-lug wheels, up to 15-inches in size.
