Troubleshooting the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent Assembly Upgrade Kit Not Holding the Lid Open
Updated 05/20/2022 | Published 05/17/2022 >
Question:
The lift arm on the upgrade just pushes the lid open and then allows it to close on its own weight. The original lift arm locked into the lid and secured it in place. With this setup what is there to prevent the wind from flipping the lid all the way open and then not being able to close it without climbing up on the roof? This would also make the rain sensor auto close useless.

Expert Reply:
The way that the Fan-Tastic Vent Roof Vent Assembly Upgrade Kit # FV807357 operates, it shouldn't be possible for the lid to close under its own weight. I would double check that everything was installed correctly, paying close attention to the linkage that locks in and holds the lid open. The lift arm on the upgrade kit should still lock into the lid and secure it in place.
