Question:
I have been looking at travel trailer spring equalizers and there is noted a gross weight axle capacity. On a tandem axle system, is the capacity referring to the max capacity of one axle or both axles? Thanks

The capacity on the equalizer upgrade kits is for each axle. That means the MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers for Tandem Axle Trailers w/ 35" Wheelbase - 8K # MR27ZR you were looking at works with tandem axle trailers up to 8,000 lbs per axle for a total of 16,000 lbs in combined axle capacity.
When choosing a kit like this it is important to choose one that closely matches the size of your current equalizer. In the case of the # MR27ZR, you can also go by the 35" wheelbase. These measure 8" between the horizontal mounting holes, and 3-5/16" between the center of the horizontal mount holes and the vertical mounting hole. If the equalizer sizing or wheelbase matches your current trailer then this would be a great choice.
I would also recommend the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers. The correct kit will depend on the length of your current shackles which is the center of hole to center of hole measurement. For 2-1/4" shackles you need the # MR46ZR and for 3-1/8" long shackles you need the # MR76ZR.
I have attached some review videos for your reference.
