When it comes to replacing the axle on your 1988 20 foot trailer, we currently do not have a 4,500 pound axle replacement. We do have the next size up in a 5,200 pound axle that would work if you meet some measurement requirements. We would need to know the hub face to hub face dimension and would also need to know the spring center to spring center measurement.

We currently have 3 different sizes:

The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam 86-1/2 inches # 8327816

The Dexter Trailer Axle Beam 89 inches # 8327820

The Trailer Axle Beam 95 inches # e63GR

All three of these axles will run a hub and drum with a bolt pattern of 6 on 5-1/2 like The Dexter Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly - 5,200-lb E-Z Lube Axles - 12 inch - 6 on 5-1/2 # K08-201-98. They have an inner bearing # 25580 and an outer bearing # LM67048.

With the information above we will be able to see if you can match up if not you can just start brand new with the information above. If this doesn't help out please reach out.
