Can The Head Of A Curt A16 5th Wheel Hitch Be Replaced With A Curt A20 5th Wheel Hitch

Question:

We currently have an A16 Curt hitch, but our new fifth wheel requires an A20. Can we just purchase the head unit? Are legs and rails compatible. the A16 is currently in a Chevy 3500 long bed.

Unfortunately the legs of the A16 are only rated for 16,000lbs so you would need to replace the entire hitch with the Curt A20 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 20,000lbs # C16140.

The rails will still be compatible so you won't have to remove and replace those.
