Can a Trailer Hitch be Installed on a 2013 Toyota Avalon Hybrid
Question:
This hitch is listed for the new Avalon 2013 hybrid. Also the 2012 and the camry too? My concern is that the Avalon owners manual says not to put a hitch on the car even to carry bikes. I dont want to invalidate a warranty but will only be carrying 2 lightweight road bikes which combined with the bike rack shouldnt weigh more than 80 pounds I dont think. I bought a hitch for my 2007 camry hybrid and it seemed to be ok. Suggestions? I also plan to get a 2 bike tray rack.

We cannot recommend going against what the owners manual says. If it specifically says do not install a trailer hitch then you should not install a trailer hitch. But if it says do not tow a trailer with this vehicle, then that is different and it would be permissible to install a hitch as long as you are not towing with it.
OutWay, # TH45JV. This is by far the best trunk mount rack available. What makes it so great are all of the features. It is easy to install and comes with locks for both the rack and the bikes.
When using a trunk mount bike rack be sure that the vehicle and rack are clean to avoid scratches.
If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # TH982XT. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wifes bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my sons bike at all.
