Replacement Hubs for 1999 Load Rite 161250L Boat Trailer
Products Featured in This Question
Question:
I am looking to replace both hubs on a 1999 Load Rite 161250L boat trailer. Load Rite says they believe it has 1.06 in straight spindles. The current hubs have Bearing Buddies installed on them. I am looking for complete galvanized hub assemblies which either include a lubrication nipple or to which a Bearing Buddy type device can be added. Bolt pattern is 5 X 4.5. Tires are 480-12, so I assume that is 12 in wheels. I am not exactly sure where to measure from.

Helpful Expert Reply:
If the surface of your spindles where the inner and outer bearings ride are 1.06 inches in diameter, you'll need hubs compatible with a L44649 inner and outer wheel bearing.
The # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K hub you'd looked at should be compatible with your spindles, you'll want to use a digital caliper like # PTW80157 and measure the spindle diameter where the grease seal rides which is known as the seal journal surface. If the seal journal surface is 1.50 inches in diameter, the 10-9 grease seal included with the # AKIHUB-545-2-G-2K hub will be compatible with your spindle. The hubs include the inner and outer bearings and races, the grease seal and the lug nuts, as well as a grease cap.
The hubs are compatible with 12 inch wheels like those used by your 4.80-12 tires.

If your current bearing buddies are in good shape, you'll be able to reuse them. If you'd like to replace them, use part # BB1980A-SS.
