Parts Needed For Adding a 7-Way Trailer Connection and Brake Controller to a 2022 Subaru Forester

Question:

I'm getting ready to install your receiver # e83ZR on my 2022 Subaru Forester for pulling my camping trailer. This trailer has electric brakes so apparently I need a 7-way and brake controller. Do you have the correct parts to fit my Forester?

For your 2022 Subaru Forester you will first need a T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467 to tie into the tail lights on your vehicle to provide the lighting for the 7-way. This will plug into the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 which also provides you with the wiring needed to install a brake controller. I have linked an installation video below that you can reference on the installation that was done on a 2015 Forester. A Mounting Bracket # 18140 will allow you to attach the 7-way to the cross tube on the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e83ZR.

For a brake controller I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. This will install with the Universal Harness # RED69FR. The Redarc is controlled with a small control knob that is mounted to the dash in a location of your choosing. It is a small knob that does not take up much room with the bulk of the controller mounted behind the dash. The controller is proportional so once you have it set for your trailer it will automatically adjust for light or hard braking with no additional input from the operator.
