Question:

We have 2 2022 Trek Verve 2 comfort bikes. These do not have a top bar they are step through, will these mount on this rack without an adapter? Additionally the handlebars measure 13” from center out. Looking at your diagram the clearance is only 10”. Are the handlebars too long for this rack?

Since the inner tray for the Thule Elite Van XT 2 Bike Rack # TH302013 is only about 10" away from the vehicle and your bike handlebar is going to be sticking out 13" we need to look at a different solution so your bike won't be making contact with the vehicle.

For your application I recommend installing a hitch on your 2018 Ram ProMaster 2500 and then using a swinging bike rack for rear door clearance; for the hitch use # e99AR.

Then for a bike rack I recommend checking out the RockyMounts BackStage Bike Rack for 2 Bikes # RKY10002. It doesn't look like your Trek Verve bikes have a front fender so this wheel mount rack will make it easy to load your bikes and then you can actually swing it out of the way so you can open up your rear doors without having to remove your bikes.

Attached is a review video of this rack on a 2017 Jeep Wrangler with a spare tire so you can see the amount of clearance you'll be getting with this setup.
