Wiring Harness That Hooks Into The Reverse Light Circuit

This is a wiring harness you will have to make yourself. If you have a 7-way connector on your vehicle, you can use the following items to make a custom wiring harness for your setup.

7-Way Round RV Style Trailer Connector - Trailer Side, part # A7WCB,
1' - 2' of Jacketed 2 Wire (Brake Wire) - 12 Gauge - per Foot, part # 12-2-1,
Hopkins 2-Pole Flat Wiring Extension - 12" Long, part # HM47965.

With these items you will be able to create the wiring harness that will allow your pod light to turn on in reverse from the power feed of your trailer plug.

1. Plug in the Optronics7-Way round connector into your vehicle's 7-way connector.
2. Use the wire to splice into the trailer's reverse lights
3. Spice the wire into the Hopkins 2-pole flat connector. You will have to cut this connector into two pieces. You will connect one end to the negative and positive wires on your pod light. The other half will get wired to the new reverse light wire.
4. When you are ready to use the adapter you will plug one end of the Hopkins 2-way adapter into the end connected to your pod lights to power them when you put the tow vehicle in reverse.

If you do not have a 7-way connector already installed on your trailer, you will need the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller - 7-Way RV and 4-Way Flat - 10 Gauge Wires, part # ETBC7, to install the 7-way connector on your trailer.
