Question:

Is it neccessary to use the swagman anti rattle locking hitch pin on my rack? or is it possible to pull out the aluminum threaded from my hitch rack and just use a standard locking hitch pin for a 1 1/4 inch hitch?

The Swagman XC # S64650 can only be used with its thread hitch bolt. The weldnut inside prevents the use of a standard hitch pin. The benefit of the thread bolt is that it poles the shank tight to the inside of the receiver to reduce movement of the rack.If you where to somehow remove the weldnut and use a regular pin then you would also lose that anti-rattle ability. To make installing and removing the bolt easier I recommend using a ratchet with the appropriate socket.

For a locking threaded anti-rattle pin for the XC you would use # S64029.
