Could Square Nut of Saris # SA3015 Spin Freely If Broken Free
Published 03/10/2022 >
Question:
I just spent a very long time drilling and grinding to remove the anti rattle hitch pin from my Saris bike rack. The hex nut broke loose of the plastic around it and was able to spin freely inside the rack tube while installed on the hitch. This caused the rack to be stuck on the vehicle until I drilled out the majority of the pin bolt. I see this design appears to change to a square nut. Does the change to a square nut prevent it from freely rotating, even if the plastic breaks?

Yes, the square nut of the # SA3015 is large enough that if somehow the nut was to break free from the rest of it's housing it would not be able to spin freely.
