The Steel Solid Center Trailer Wheel # AM20035 has a 4 on 4" lug pattern that is measured from wheel lug center across the hub to the furthest wheel lug center. The 2-13/16" measurement that you mentioned is the measurement between the closest wheel lug center to the first wheel stud, not measured across the hub(see image).
