Published 02/14/2022 >
Question:
I have a 2020 Heartland Mallard M260 travel trailer with a 7 flat pin connector and I want to install a receiver hitch onto the travel trailer to tow my new 2022 Bass Buggy 16 XL. I need to know which receiver hitch I need and what wiring harness to connect the boat trailer lights to the TT lights. I await your reply

To find the right hitch for your 2020 Heartland RV Mallard M260 travel trailer you'll need to measure the distance between the frame beams to find the frame width. The Curt Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver for RVs # 13703 you were looking at will fit a frame width of 22" to 72", so it will most likely be a compatible fit.
As for the wiring, we don't have a 7-way flat connector so I'd be curious to know what was installed on your trailer. A work around for this would be to splice the Hopkins Endurance 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector # HM48110 into your trailer's lights to send the signal from your truck to the travel trailer and then to the boat trailer.
You will need to match the connector to your wires by function. On these connectors, the brown wire is the tail lights, the green is right turn/brake light, the yellow is left turn/brake light and the white is ground and your connector will likely be the same.
I would also like to note that triple towing is very dangerous and that you'll need to review the state and local laws of any area you'll be towing through to ensure you're following laws and regulations required by the state and county.
