Do Curt C17052 and C17057 Round Bar Weight Distribution Systems Use Same Weight Distribution Head

Updated 02/08/2022 | Published 02/05/2022

Question:

Are the head and shank the same in this kit as the 17057 14k lb kit? I have an enclosed trailer with a 14k lb gvwr, but is long enough that I dont load it up to the 1400lb tongue/hitch weight, and a camp trailer that claims 850 lb tongue weight. Id like to get a kit to do both and am thinking the 17052 kit would be ideal split for majority of the time but could upgrade to the 14k/1400lb tw round bars if I end up loading the enclosed trailer to max later down the road, if all the other components are already the 14k rated.

Both the Curt # C17052 1000 lb system and the # C17057 1400 lb system use the same weight distribution head and ship with the same shank that offers a maximum rise of 6 inches or a drop of up to 2-1/2 inches.

The # C17052 is recommended for trailers with a fully loaded tongue weight ranging from 800-1000 lbs. The # C17057 works with trailers with a loaded tongue weight between 1000-1400 lbs.

You could purchase the # C17057 kit for the enclosed trailer, and for the camping trailer use the 1000 lb bars, part # C17073. This would allow you to use one system for both trailers.
