Question:

Looking at the Curt and etrailer hitch here for my 2021 Ford Ranger. They look identical, is there a difference? is one better than the other for towing?

Good question. You are correct, they look identical because they basically are with one exception. The Curt # C13417 uses a glossy finish while the etrailer # e63ZR uses a matte black powder coat finish. This is what sets the etrailer hitch apart from other hitches and the reason I recommend it. The matte black finish provides a rugged look and does a better job hiding dirt and scratches when compared to a glossy finish.

Since you plan on towing, I recommend the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 7-Way Trailer Connector # 22124. This plugs into your existing tow connector providing you with a 7-way connection at the back of your truck.

If you need a ball mount, I recommend the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball as well as a ball mount bag for storage.
