Do the Ultra-Fab Trailer Wheel Chocks Put A Lot of Tension on the Tires

Updated 07/09/2013 | Published 07/08/2013

Question:

I was looking at the ball brand of wheel chalks, when I found yours. The ball lock brand uses a ratchet wrench to ratchet them against the tires. I like yours because it looks like you just use the lever to lock them in? My question is how much pressure actually is exerted on the tire? Im looking for a lot of pressure. So the ratchet seems like it would be best? However the speed and ease of yours looks awesome. Does yours put enough pressure on the tires to do the job? I know that sounds like a dumb question! But when you push the handle down does it cause the tires to squeeze in just a little bit? Im assuming you can get quite a bit of pressure out of the lever handle?

The Ultra-Fab wheel chocks, # UF21-001070, kind of work like vise grips. There is a nut on the top that you loosen or tighten and this controls how much the chocks push out against the tires. The lever pushes out the sides of the chock to the limit set by the nut, like squeezing the handle on vise grips. To get more tension you would adjust the nut until you get the desired tension. I have included a link to a video showing how the chocks work.

You can also add a pad lock like # 141T to lock the handle in place.
