For your Demco Trailer Coupler - Cast - Adjustable Channel # DM14040-81, I recommend the etrailer Surge Brake Coupler Lock # e98888, which has a 1/4" diameter and a 3-3/8" span.
Its large span is ideal for 2 5/16" balls, and, can be keyed alike to match other etrailer branded products.
