Question:

Does this swing out far enough for a tundra tailgate to be opened and laid down?

From the center of the hitch receiver opening to the back side of that top box for the Yakima EXO Swing Away Storage System w/ 2 Enclosed Cargo Carriers # Y74ZR measures right about 30" and then that same measurement for the bottom box is about 33-1/2" (see attached). I'm not sure how wide your tailgate is but this should give you a good idea whether or not you'll have clearance.

If that top box will be in the way of your tailgate it actually has a swivel feature that will allow you to move the top box out of the way so you can lower your tailgate. If you check out the attached review video you'll see what I mean.

If you have enough clearance for this system to work out for you then I also recommend picking up the License and Tail Light Kit # Y74VR so that your tail lights and license plate will still be clearly seen.
