Thule Square Bar Adapters and Thule SnowPack Extender Ski and Snowboard Carriers

Question:
I have an older, but in excellent condition, Thule Pull Top extending ski rack. The ski rack is the 6 pair model and is pretty large. We want to use it on Thule Square Bars mounted on the roof of our M-B Metris Passenger Van. Currently, we have the Speedlink Mounting clamps on them, which work great. However, they raise the rack slightly enough that it brushes the garage door frame even when empty/without skis. I am wondering if I can switch to the Thule Square Bar Adapters Thule Part 8897 that are sold for the Snowpack line to get the ski racks to sit pretty close to, right on top of the Thule Bars? Really hoping they are compatible. Thanks for your help!!
