Recommended Crossbars and Kayak Carrying Solution for 2000 Saturn L-Series Wagon

I have a saturn 2000 L series wagon. It has roof bars that run parallel to the car. I need a cross bar or maybe two? to carry two kayaks. Where do I get the crossbar and what sort of roof rack do I need?

Expert Reply:

We offer a square crossbar kit from Thule, part # TH45050 that would connect directly to the side rails on the roof of your Saturn L Wagon.

If you prefer the AeroBlade crossbars, you can construct crossbars using part # TH450R and # THARB47.

Once the crossbars are in place, you can use a kayak carrier like the Thule Stacker, part # TH830 if your kayaks are 10 feet long or shorter.

If your kayaks are longer than 10 feet, you would need to use two carriers like the SportRack Kayak Carrier, part # SR5512.

I have linked you to the products I mentioned as well as some product demonstration videos that you might find helpful.

Bow/Stern tie-downs are included with both carriers, but I would also recommend the Thule Quick Loops, part # TH530. The Quick Loops can be closed in the hood and rear hatch, and would provide an quick and easy attachment point for the tie-downs.
