Question:

I'd like to occasionally carry a couple bikes on my 2022 Subaru Forester but I don't want a hitch. Are there racks available that attach to the rear hatch? If so, whats recommended? I've used trunk bike racks years ago, and found that they're pretty hard to install. Is there something that's easy to use? Thanks!

If you're wanting a trunk mount bike rack that's super-simple to install, look no further than the Thule OutWay, part # TH45JV for the 2 bike or # TH56BV for the 3 bike version. Instead of the 4 or 6 straps used by most trunk mount bike racks, the Thule OutWay uses two ratcheting straps. Once you've familiarized yourself with the process, it will allow you to install or remove the rack in just a minute or two. The rack is compatible with bikes weighing up to 33 lbs each. The independently adjustable rack arms are compatible with both men's or women's bikes, but if you're wanting to carry one of each, you'll probably want to use a frame adapter bar like # 64005, which spans the distance between the seat post and the handlebar stem so the bike is carried level.

The rack is very light, weighing just under 20 lbs, so it's easy for anyone to handle. The rack includes an integrated cable lock, and unlike most trunk mount bike racks, you CAN open the trunk or hatch with the rack removed which is a unique feature of this rack.
